what to expect
Many churches do Baptism differently. It is really about making an outward public profession about a inward personal repentance and change of heart.
We believe that the scriptures teach us by the example of Jesus. We try to follow Jesus in all He has done. Jesus, that was without SIN, steps into the water with John the Baptist. John gets this name based of his ministry to lead people to Baptism based on their heart of repentance. John pleads that he can not baptize Jesus, for he knew Jesus was the Son of God and ask that Jesus baptise him. Jesus, but He persuades John to Baptise Him for our example today.
Later John makes this amazing statements:
“As for me, I baptize you with water; but One is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Luke 3:16
Jesus is the reason why this practice is done in the eyes of people and God. Jesus commands us to Baptize new disciples.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18,19
We believe that everyone must be Baptised at the time when they become believers in Jesus' Salvation. This is explained in John 3 when Jesus speaks to Nicodemus. If you have placed your trust in the redemption of Jesus, then Baptism is the right next step. Give a public profession of your faith in Christ Jesus and step into the water.
